Auditorium Technical Director

Primary Function:
This position is responsible for supporting the success of events that make use of audio-visual systems, equipment, or personnel, in the Holmes Student Center, Campus Life Building and outdoor spaces on-campus. This position also oversees the technological development of audio-visual systems in the Holmes Student Center, and offers guidance to other departments on technology, as requested and able.

Duties and Responsibilities:
This position oversees the coordination of audio-visual and staging equipment by Production & Technology Services staff in the Holmes Student Center. The position will work closely with the Reservations & Event Management manager to meet and exceed client expectations for events, as well as monitor and follow up to ensure proper execution and final billing.

The position is expected to supervise Production and Technology Services staff by providing a variety of structured experiences, for student employees, designed to not only teach job specific and customer service skills required to be successful on the job, but also to assist in preparing them to be successful beyond college.

This position that will serve as on-call during the weekdays and requires the ability to work a varied schedule, including occasional nights and weekends.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
1. Possession of credential requirements for the Assistant Auditorium Technical Director as listed below:

  • 18-semester hours of college credit for course work in theater design and technology (such as courses in stage lighting, stage rigging, stage craft, scene design, sound systems, or technical direction) OR,



  • 18 months of work experience in technical operations of theatrical productions OR,

  • Any combination of training and experience, as defined above, that totals 18 months, computed on the basis of one credit hour being equivalent to one month of experience.

2. One (1) year of additional work experience in a position equivalent to the Assistant Auditorium Technical Director, as defined in this series, including the supervision of stage crew and technicians

Education and Experience Preferred:
1. Bachelors or Masters degree in Theatre design/Technology or Multimedia communications
2. Two (2) years of event productions
3. Two (2) years supervisory experience
4. Two (2) years of experience with Audio-Visual equipment

Working Hours: 9:00am - 5:30pm (hours will vary as event schedule changes)
